The Case object is the heart of Xycora. Every matter you open generates a persistent, structured workspace that tracks every document, finding, draft, time entry, and communication associated with that case. Unlike a folder on a shared drive, the Case object is intelligent — it knows the parties, the key dates, the live issues, and the current status of every action item, and it surfaces that context automatically when you begin any task within the matter.
The evidence vault within each Case provides a single authoritative repository for all source documents. Every upload is cryptographically hashed on ingestion, so you can prove at any point that a document has not been altered since it was added to the record. The vault supports drag-and-drop bulk uploads, API ingestion for system-to-system transfers, and direct email forwarding — any email sent to your case's unique inbox address is automatically ingested and indexed.
The Case timeline view renders a chronological picture of every event referenced across all documents in the matter — contracts executed, payments made, correspondence sent, deadlines breached — automatically extracted and plotted without any manual data entry. Clicking any timeline event opens the source document at the exact passage from which the event was extracted.
Evidence vault controls
Every document in the evidence vault can be tagged for privilege (legal professional privilege, without prejudice, or confidential), redacted with pixel-level precision using our browser-based redaction tool, and verified against its original hash at any time. Privilege tags are enforced at the access-control layer — team members without the corresponding permission cannot open or export tagged documents. Hash verification produces a signed certificate that can be exhibited in proceedings to establish the integrity of the electronic record.
